A customer planning replacement work for a rod-pumped well requested a stuffing box suitable for a 32 mm polished rod. The inquiry included a photograph of the existing installation but did not initially identify the lower connection or preferred sealing arrangement.
The procurement challenge
Polished rod diameter is only one selection factor. A replacement stuffing box must also match the wellhead connection, available installation space, operating pressure reference and the maintenance practice used by the field team.
Information reviewed
- 32 mm polished rod diameter.
- Existing wellhead and lower connection information.
- General operating pressure and temperature range.
- Preference for adjustable sealing and replaceable packing.
- Quantity required for the first maintenance batch.
Clarifying the connection
The customer provided additional measurements and thread information from the existing equipment. YUXIN compared those details with the available product configuration and marked the connection requirement in the quotation notes.
Confirming the sealing arrangement
The maintenance team wanted gradual adjustment as sealing elements wore in service. A fine-adjustment long-life stuffing-box configuration was therefore reviewed, with compatible sealing elements for the stated rod diameter.
Production and inspection focus
The order documentation identified the connection, rod-size range and pressure reference as controlled items. Finished assemblies were checked for matching components, visible workmanship and the dimensions agreed for the order.
Result and purchasing lesson
The requirement was converted from a general replacement request into a confirmable product configuration. The key lesson for buyers is to submit rod diameter, connection details and operating conditions together. This reduces selection risk and makes spare sealing-element planning easier.
